Ah! Bognor. From 1957 to about 1968 I spent all my school and college holidays just outside Bognor at a place called "Rose Green" It was a town that tried hard to make itself into a modern seaside resort and I think is still trying. Nonetheless, it has its own charm. At low spring tides, the beach at Aldwick was a fine place to find London clay fossils - I remember finding shark teeth, seeds of Nipa palm and other small seeds, the tube worm Rotularia bognoriensis and sundry mollusca. Most fossils were heavily pyritised and would decay on keeping. Various species of beetles have been found in theses deposits - described in a BM(NH) bulletin about 1968.

Pagham harbour is a wonderful place, well worth a visit. There is an excellent walk from end of lane near Church Farm Pagham round to The Crab and Lobster, Siddlesham. Excellent shingle banks and some historic interest at Church Norton.
