Although I spent all my school/college holidays just outside Bognor Regis, I only ever visited Chichester Harbour once. This was for Thorny Island Air Show (probably in 1960's when it was RAF station). I remember the huge Vulcan bombers taking off/landing, low flying over the airfield. A sight never forgotten.
Very nostalgic blog for me - John Langmaid, I remember vaguely, Col. Emmet, Tony Simpson, Mike Harper, all excellent "micromen"
It's worth checking Sea Lavender for Pseudaplemonius limonii . a "large" violet Apion; I've found it around Poole Harbour, but not sure how far east it occurs.
There still is an RAF station there apparently -- as I came to Thorney Island itself, there was barbed wire, MOD land, no trespassing etc., so I had to turn around. Also saw a couple of Eurofighters flying in formation.
I'll keep in mind the "huge" Apion, though I don't know when I'll get to saltmarshes again... There was high tide and many areas were flooded, so I surely missed a lot of stuff.
